With campuses buzzing again this term, the challenge for employers is no longer just being present... it’s about cutting through the noise. Students are bombarded with choice, so the brands that stand out are those that think creatively about their presence. Here are some tried-and-tested tips to elevate your visibility and engagement:
1. Think big (literally!)
That first impression counts. A slightly taller, wider, or more eye-catching banner can be the difference between blending into the background and becoming the first stand students see when they enter a Careers Fair. Bigger visuals mean better recall.
2. Create a reason to pause
Give students more than a freebie. A coffee cart or snack stand creates a natural queue, which means more time to chat with you. Compare that to a quick notebook grab-and-go — the longer interaction builds stronger connections.

3. Make it interactive
Students engage best when they can do something, not just listen. Whether it's quick gamified challenges or immersive VR experiences, interactive elements spark curiosity and leave a memorable impression of your brand.
4. Personalise the conversation
It’s easy to stick to generic career talk, but tailoring your approach to each student (for example, they could be STEM-focused, creative, or even unsure) shows authenticity and care. That personal touch is what makes you stand out from the crowd.
5. Don't forget the follow up
Your campus presence doesn’t end when the activation or Careers Fair does. Give students an easy way to connect with you afterwards - QR codes linking to early careers pages, or follow-up emails that continue the conversation.
Standing out on campus isn’t about the biggest budget; it’s about strategic visibility, memorable experiences, and meaningful interactions. Small changes to your setup can make a big difference in how students perceive and remember your brand.
