We’re proud to partner with The Skills Spot (TSS), a social enterprise dedicated to empowering young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed. TSS delivers programmes that bridge the gap between education and employment, runs careers fairs, evening youth clubs, mentoring and more; all designed to help individuals unlock their potential and thrive in the world of work.
As part of our ongoing collaboration, we sat down with CEO Amma Anderson to hear more about the vision behind The Skills Spot, the impact they’re making, and what’s next for their journey.
Can you tell us a bit about The Skills Spot, when and why it started?
The Skills Spot wasn’t built from scratch – it grew from work we were already doing with young people. Over time, they made it clear they needed more: a dedicated place that invested in their wellbeing, confidence, and future – not just as future workers, but as whole people. To meet that need, we established The Skills Spot in 2022 (named by the young people) as a space with its own focus and resources, where young people could get consistent, tailored support to take their next steps in a safe and accessible way.
Just as importantly, we wanted them to have a free “third space” – somewhere outside of work, home, or education where they could belong. The centre we operate from has been part of the local community for decades, and we’re proud to keep that tradition alive for a new generation.
What kind of programmes or initiatives do you run, and what impact have they had so far?
Our programmes range from open-access evening sessions (fitness, games nights, shared meals) to tailored support like one-to-one mentoring, employability workshops, and wellbeing-focused sessions. Each strand is designed to help young people grow confidence, build stability, and move towards thriving adult lives.
The impact is already clear: young people often tell us this is the first place they’ve felt truly welcomed and listened to. In the past quarter we’ve supported 168 young people through our services, and we’re excited to continue our work.

From your perspective, what difference has our partnership made to TSS?
Partnerships like the one with FourthWall are vital for us. You’ve helped us bring fresh opportunities to young people that we wouldn’t have been able to deliver alone. The industry insight session we ran together showed how much young people benefit from professional expertise shared in an accessible, engaging way. Beyond the sessions themselves, it’s also the signal it sends: that employers and organisations are willing to invest time and care into this community. That’s powerful.
How can people support or get involved with TSS?
There are lots of ways to get involved – from volunteering your time and skills to hosting a workshop, to collaborating with us to create new opportunities.
Right now, we’re especially looking for employers who can open doors for young people and partners who share our vision and want to invest in their long-term journeys.
Most importantly, we want people to see The Skills Spot as an access point. If you’re an employer, policymaker, or community leader, connect with us. We want to ensure more young people have what they need to build confident, thriving adult lives.
