Engage

The challenge was to design workshops that made employability skills engaging, memorable, and relevant for students aged 14-17.

A large consultancy firm wanted to inspire school students to think differently about careers in business and professional services. Traditional workshops often feel too abstract or formal, so our task was to create an experience that built confidence, encouraged teamwork, and made employability skills tangible through practical, story-driven challenges. The workshops needed to spark curiosity about professional careers, and leave them with skills and experiences they could carry forward into future opportunities.

Inspire

Our solution was to create immersive storytelling workshops that brought real-world business scenarios to life.

We designed 'Baguette Me Not', a fictional sandwich shop complete with a full backstory for its owner Brenda, branding, menus, invoices, and even a hand-scribbled business plan. From the moment students walked in, they were drawn into Brenda's world, introduced to her dream of running her own café, the challenges of managing stock and costs, and the quirks of her homemade menus.

To make the experience feel authentic, facilitators role-played as customers, setting the stage for students to place sandwich orders at the start of the day. At lunchtime, a surprise twist was revealed, Brenda herself, played by a facilitator, arrived with the orders, but they were all wrong.

This triggered a fast-paced challenge where students had to work together to resolve complaints, analyse Brenda's documents, and recommend how she could improve her business. With limited time and resources, they learned to think on their feet, apply critical reasoning, and present solutions in a fun, high-energy setting that felt worlds apart from a traditional classroom workshop.

Connect

As a result, students gained valuable employability skills through a hands-on, story-led experience they wouldn't forget.

The immersive format created lasting impact, with feedback highlighting how enjoyable and different the workshops felt compared to traditional careers sessions. Students left with improved confidence, stronger communication skills, and practical experience of problem-solving in a business context.
